The pathogenicity of three isolates of the genus Pythium (P.afertile , which was isolated from okra , hay isolate and cress isolate ) for many economical plants such as maize , sesame , cucumber and tomato were studied in artificially infested soils . These isolates were isolated from the roots of some infected plants and it's pathogenicity was determined according to it's ability to cause pre – and post emergence damping – off of seedlings. The pathogenicity tests showed that the P. afertile isolate recorded the maximum reduction in percentage of pre – emergence damping – off , where it's percent was 39.99% , followed by cress isolate as 32.08 % and hay isolate as 27.08% , whereas the cress isolate gave a significant reduction in percentage of post – emergence damping – off which was 27.35 % , followed by P. afertile and hay isolates which were 21.44 % and 16.35 % respectively .The antagonistic activity between the fungi that isolated from the rhizosphere of tomato and sesame plants and both Pythium's isolates (P. afertile and cress isolates) was studied on P.S.A. culture medium . The results of fungi isolated from the rhizosphere of tomato and sesame plants showed the presence of 13 different types of fungi in addition to Pythium's isolates which are belong to the following genera : Alternaria , Aspergillus , Cladosporium , Penicillium , Phytophthora , Rhizoctonia , Trichoderma , Verticillium and Fusarium . The microbial analysis showed the presence of all isolated fungi that mentioned above except the fungus Fusarium in the rhizosphere of tomato plant and both of the fungi A. wentii and Cladosporium in the rhizosphere of sesame plant. Results of this research demonstrated convergence in the response of antagonistic fungi against both Pythium isolates except the fungus Trichoderma , which was the most influential with inhibition rate reached to 66.37 % because of it's ability to mycoparasite pathogenic fungi .

Total oral bacterial samples ( 122 ) were collected form several (E-N-T) units in Educated Ramadi hospital in the period between the first of October to the end of March 2013 isolated including 211 isolates of bacteria were obtained 8 types of bacteria in order to isolate and identify the types of bacteria that can live with tonsillitisand this study included both sexes with the age range of (1 – 46 and up) years. Many gram negative and positive bacteria were isolated and the highest percent 19.4 % (41 Isolates)was related to the type Moraxella catarrhalis while the lowest percent 4.2 % (9 Isolates) was related to Klebseilla pnumoniae .However, the rest isolates were recorded to be 17.6%(37 Isolates) for Staphylococcus aureus., 14.7 % (31 Isolates) for Streptococcus pyogenes .,13.8% (29 Isolates)for Haemophilus influenzae ., 12.3%(26 Isolates) for Streptococcus pneumoniae., 9.5%(20 Isolates) for Staphylococcus epidermids and 8.5%(18 Isolates) for Streptococcus viridians. This study showed that there was no significant effects of the sex and age but there was significant effects of the place of living on the infection.Bacterial isolates showed high sensitivity to Gentamicin, Imipenem and the rate was 100% sensitivity.Gram negative bacteria showed resistance to antibiotics 11.11%of bacteria isolates were resistant to Amikacin while 33.33% of them were resistant to Cefotaxime and Tetracycline and 44.44%of isolates were resistant to Erythromycin and 66.66% of isolates were resistant to Clindamycin and Azetreonam and 77.77% of isolates were resistant to Vancomycin while all isolates of isolates were resistant to Amoxycilin / clavulanic acid. As shown gram positive bacterial isolates to were less resistant to antibiotics uses, the ratios as follows: Cefotaxime , Erythromycin and Azetreonam %6.66 Clindamycin 20 % and Vancomycin and Amoxycilin /clavulanic acid 40% While all of gram positive isolates were sensitive to Tetracycline .

Read More ... The present investigation represents a preliminary study of the effect of crude extracts (aqueous, ethanolic and hexanic) of date pits (Phoenix dactylifera L. cv. Zahdi) on two malignant cell lines (human laryngeal carcinoma-Hep2 and murine mammary adenocarcinoma-AMN3) and one normal cell line (rat embryo fibroblast-REF). The study also includes evaluation of the effect of these extracts on several cytogenetic parameters such as mitotic index (MI%), blast index (BI%) and chromosomal aberrations (CA) after in vitro culture of peripheral blood lymphocytes. This work also includes a study of the therapeutic potential of one of these extracts in the treatment of transplanted murine mammary adenocarcinoma in mice.The in vitro cell growth assay showed that there was time- and concentration-dependent cytotoxic effects of crude extracts of date pits on Hep2 and AMN3 cell lines. The highest significant effect of these extracts was achieved after 72 hrs of exposure with the highest concentration (10000 μg/ml). Ethanolic extract of pits (EP) caused growth inhibition percentage 89.4% , 93.4% for Hep2 and AMN3 respectively. However, 72 hrs exposure to EP at concentration of 10000 μg/ml caused slight inhibitory effect on REF cell line, reaching 17.7%.On the other hand, the crude extracts of pits caused significant reduction in the mitotic index and blast index of peripheral human lymphocytes, but without any structural or numerical chromosomal aberrations. Also these extracts neither replaced phytohemagglutinin (PHA) as mitogenic agent, nor colcemide as mitotic arresting agent at metaphase.The therapeutic doses of EP were determined according to LD50 in mice. The results indicated high effectiveness of this extract in a dose- and time-dependent manner. The highest therapeutic doses of EP (1 gm/kg B.wt.) showed the best therapeutic effect by reducing the tumor volume in mice to about 83.8%.The comparison of relative tumor volumes of different groups revealed highly significant differences among all treated groups and those of untreated (control) group.

The study included the collection and examination of 480 of sample from blood bags components of stored in the main blood bank in Ramadi, The isolates were identified isolated from blood bags components depending on the morphological and microscopic tests and also on the Biochemical tests in order to identify bacterial species and to ensure the primary characters ; 68 isolates were recognized with a percent of 85.29% for the gram positive bacteria. They were related to four types, Staphylococcus epidermidis which gave 28 isolates with a percent of 41.17% , 7 isolates related to Staphylococcus aureus with a percent of 10.29% , 14 isolates related to Staphylococcus haemolyticus with a percent of 20.58% , and 9 isolates related to Bacillus cereus with a percent of 13.23% . gram negative bacteria included 10 isolates related to two bacterial types with a percent of 14.20%. The first 6 isolates related to Klebsiella pneumoniae with a percent of 8.82% and second type included pseudomonas aeruginosa 4 isolates with a percent of 5.88The sensitivity of these isolates to 15 antibiotics was tested ; the resistance percent of the gram positive bacteria isolated from blood bags components was 63.12% to all antibiotics used . The resistance percent was 100% Penicillin , 92.5% ,95% to Ampicillin and Erythromycin respectively, Amikacin and Gentamycin had a high activity against isolates and reduced their resistance to22.5% ,17.5% respectively, and also Chloramphenicol reduced their resistance to 40% . The resistance percent for gram negative bacteria was 76% to all antibiotics used,100% against Penicillin, Ampicillin , Erythromycin and Rifampin, 90% against Co-trimoxazole, Tetracyclin and Ciprofloxacin Cefotaxime and Ceftriaxon 70%, finally50% ,60% and 50% against Amikacin , Chloramphenicol and Gentamicin respectively. All isolates were positive and negative gram sensitive100% to the antibiotic Imipenem .The blood bags platelets showed highest contamination was 23.75%,The lowest contamination was in the bags of red blood cells 3.75% . The minimal inhibitory concentrations (MICs) of some disinfectants were also determined . The low concentrations of Isopropyl-alcohol(2- 64mg/ml) the most effective as compared to others to inhibit bacterial growth. However, Hibitans at 256- 3500mg/ml had the lowest effects on the inhibition of bacterial growth.

Did not notice any significant differences of testosterone among other temisters of pregnancy. Outweigh the high (P <0.05) in the effect of the hormone TSH in the first temister and the second compared to the third temister. Exposure to Uranium results in significant accumulation in most of vital organs and free radical damage have been proposed as a cause of uranium induced tissue damage where oxidative stress is a likely molecular mechanism This study is designed to evaluate the protection and effects of lemongrass oil (Cymbopogoncitratus) and Effective Microorganism (EM) in animals treated with 75 mg/Kg body weight with uranyl acetate (UA) on some physiological changes that included lipid peroxidation ( Malondialdehyde MDA ) and some antioxidants levels ( Glutathione GSH) in rats. Evaluation of lemongrass oil and EM in this respect was conducted in rats male divided into eight groups , each group included five rats.Lemongrass oil and EM administrated to the rats ( Tow and Three groups) and added with ( 75 mg/ kg) UA in other groups. (75 mg/kg) UA adiminstrated to rats positive group , were the control group administrated with saline.The changes in oxidative stress by determination Malondialdehyde (MDA) and Glutathione (GSH) in liver and in serum of each group.The results showed that a significant increment ( p≤0.05) in the MDA of animals treated with 75mg/kg UA(118.62±8.68) n mol/g)(5.33±1.21 µ mol/L) respectively and in the liver and in serum compare with control(17.24±3.12 n mol/g)(1.52±0.57 µmol/L) respectively in the liver and in serum and a significant reduction (p≤0.05) in GSH (4.83±2.64 n mol/g) (0.39±0.14 µ mol / L ) respectively in the liver and in serum after twelve week of administrated compare with control (7.76±1.27 n mol/g)(1.36±0.47 µ mol/L ) respectively in the liver and in serum In the light of the results lemongrass and EM protect the whole body of animals against the oxidative stress induced tissue damage produced due to exposure to uranium through the reduction of MDA levels in the liver and in serum and increase in GSH levels in the liver and in serum compare with control in each period of experiment.

H2O2+ extract of Heliotropium + vitamin C group, The results of study showed that the oxidative stress by hydrogen peroxide led to a significant decrease in the concentration of glutathione activity of the enzyme SOD, total protein and albumin when compared with the control group. And a significant increase in the concentration of MDA, peroxynitrate radical and urea. Where the treatment of animals with Heliotropium + H2O2 led to a significant increase in the concentration of glutathione, SOD activity, total protein and albumin compared with a group of hydrogen peroxide. And a significant decrease in the concentration of MDA peroxy nitrite radical and urea compared with a group of hydrogen peroxide. The treatment of animals exposed to oxidative stress with vitamin C (250 mg / kg of body weight) for 30 days showed a significant increase in the concentration of glutathione enzyme SOD activity, total protein and albumin when compared with hydrogen peroxide. And a significant decrease in the concentration of MDA and peroxynitrite radical. And non-significant differences in the concentration of urea compared with a group of hydrogen peroxide. Well the treatment of animals with vitamin C and extract of Heliotropium has led to a significant increase in the concentration of glutathione SOD activity total protein and albumin when compared with a hydrogen peroxide group, and a significant decrease in the concentration of MDA, peroxy nitrite radicals and urea compared with hydrogen peroxide.
